Experiment 1

My cousin stopped by for a visit late last year with her adorable little son. And knowing how much I enjoy a decent BBQ sauce (I am very particular about my BBQ and the sauce y'all), she brought me an apple butter BBQ sauce made by a local farm in Connecticut #Lymanorchards.

At first I had my doubts. I'm not really an apple butter person, although it is suburb with goat cheese - sweet and salty 😋. I decided to get a little adventurous and try this sauce on my amazing 12-hour slow cooked turkey. The result was almost to great to put into words.

Velvety tender turkey topped with an apple butter BBQ sauce/hot sauce combination on a hotdog bun. Excellent all the way around. The BBQ sauce has just the right amount of sweetness from the apple butter and is very well balanced with the common smokey and tangy notes found in this condiment. This sauce runs a very close second to one of my faves from Kansas City #Gatesbarbecuesauce.

In conclusion, slow cooker + turkey + apple butter BBQ sauce = yaaaaaas
